Peplum popped up in fashion trends in the late 1920's when it was used mostly on sportswear and jersey suits. In the next decades designers had re-worked that idea with enviable regularity. Each reminiscent of this fashion detail has its sartorial nuance. So wearing peplum in “40s style” with wasp waist and hour glass silhouette will create a vintage look.
Modern peplums intend to make whole figure appears slender and taller. That’s why the tops are usually fitted but not narrow to waist line. Side line of garments is almost vertical from armhole to peplum and peplum itself (oppose to 40s and 50s) is not on the narrowest part of the figure. It is always a little bit (or more) higher. On catwalks peplums paired with tailored bottoms. That makes hips appear slimmer by contrasting effect of flared peplum.

Another sartorial degree is wearing peplum with pants. Belt and waist-line should be hidden under peplum.

Very good post, I found it very helpful. Perhaps you have heard about fixazipper.org? They have got tons of free how-to articles on fixing broken zippers, the majority of them incorporate videos too. I've restored several zippers on my kid's clothes with the help of their repair methods, check them out if you need any type of zipper fixed.
