Hi. I’m Jackie Woodburne and I play Susan Kennedy on “Neighbours”. I had the pleasure of working with Caaren when she was supervising and designing in our very busy wardrobe department. During that time, like most women, I had weight fluctuations, crises of confidence (Yes, my bum DOES look big in that!) and several style re-inventions. Caaren was always able to put a positive spin on any situation. Where I saw exploding hips, she enhanced a small waist. Where I bemoaned narrow shoulders, she emphasized a flattering neckline. I always went on set feeling confident and able to forget about my appearance and just focus on the work. As an actor that is vital. Caaren and I went on several shopping expeditions for my character and she always accepted my input and understood that I had to feel comfortable in whatever I was wearing. And let’s face it……it’s much more fun to go shopping with a friend, and a friend who shops professionally, is a huge bonus! I have no doubt that at the end of the day, you’ll look and feel, a million dollars!

I thought to myself when telling her this. I am pretty sure I have looked all over Chadstone and Southland and Chapel Street and I haven’t found anything so I am not sure that Caaren will be able to suggest something to suit me.
How wrong I was. Within a few hours she e-mailed me a link to her blog which immediately got my attention. A sample of the article read -
“WHEN ONLY A FLAT SHOW WILL DO!
Many of us run around all day and spend long hours standing for our work. So when even a 1 inch heel is too high where can we turn for a comfortable shoe that will look good and protect us from the winter days?”
As you can see we were immediately on the same page!
I looked at the many styles that she had on her blog and a marched straight back to Southland with iPhone in hand an blog up on screen.
I noticed that the styles she had suggested to me were there all along but they would otherwise be something I would never pick up and try on. On her advice I did try them on and do you know what…… I walked away from shopping that night with two new pairs of shoes that I was absolutely in love with.
It just goes to show that we think we know how to dress ourselves and what looks best. But in fact, all it takes is one amazing woman with a unique talent to point us in the right direction.
